They do have some hurtin’ hurlers returns to look forward to but Matt Clement and Chris Carpenter have yet to make their debuts this year and are a long shot for return in the immediate future. Mulder is much closer to returning to the Cardinal’s roster but with his latest showing, one has to wonder, “How long is it gonna be before the Cardinals have pitching to match their hitting?”  . * New virus has potential to cause pandemic, Chan says * Emergency committee to advise her on changing alert level * Premature to issue travel advisories, Chan says * Too soon to switch to production of new flu vaccine (adds details, quotes) GENEVA, April 25 (Reuters) – Outbreaks of swine flu in Mexico and the United States have the potential to cause a worldwide pandemic but it is too early to say whether they will, the head of the World Health Organisation said on Saturday. “It has pandemic potential because it is infecting people,” WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said. “However, we cannot say on the basis of currently available laboratory, epidemiological, and clinical evidence whether or not it will indeed cause a pandemic.” The new flu strain — a mixture of swine, human and avian flu viruses which has killed up to 68 people among 1,004 suspected cases in Mexico and infected eight in the United States — is still poorly understood and the situation is evolving quickly, Chan said on a teleconference. An emergency committee of experts, convening shortly, will advise her about issues including possibly changing the WHO’s pandemic alert level, currently 3 on a scale of 1 to 6. It was “too premature at this stage” for the WHO to announce any travel advisories, as better analysis of the cases and other clinical data was required, she said.

“We do not yet have a complete picture of the epidemiology or the risk, including possible spread beyond the currently affected areas,” Chan said. “Nonetheless, in the assessment of WHO, this is a serious situation.” It was also too soon for the U.N. agency to advise drugmakers to switch to producing a new vaccine — to be derived from the new virus — from their traditional production of seasonal influenza vaccines, she said.(For other stories on swine flu click on [nFLU])(For a WHO statement on swine flu go to:here )(Reporting by Jonathan Lynn and Stephanie Nebehay; Editing by Angus MacSwan) Mexico Mexico. Dominic Rhodes of the Oakland Raiders was recently cut from the team, and Lamont Jordan will be next Should the Raiders stop there?Michael Bush comes to mind If the Raiders cut another RB it will be him. And if they stay with three great unknown running backs, will owner Al Davis want more? Here’s my plan:  Step 1Trade Jordan and save money for a good wide receiver. Lamont Jordan is not worth his salary, and he wants out! Step 2We don’t need Michael Bush anymore.

He might be good but we have this year’s first round pick, Darren McFadden and last year’s starter, Justin Fargas.  Keep on saving for a WR! That’s our real need  Step 3Time for the WR I was talking about We have already signed Javon Walker We also have Ronald Curry, but we could have more. I’m not going to say names, but almost any veteran WR could and would help the Raiders. Raider Nation is hoping for a good season finally, and with these moves I believe one is on the horizon.    . Who ever thought that the series would end like this? For most of us, even as Red Wings fans, we thought that Colorado would put up more of a fight than they did. But without their “star” (and I use the term lightly) center Peter Forsberg the Avalanche just appeared to roll over and die. With 3 goals in the first, and 4 goals in the second and finishing with a goal in the third the wings really flexed their offensive muscles. Johan Franzen received his second hat-trick in the series and of his career in the playoffs.Henrik Zetterberg also contributed 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points And Pavel Datsyuk had 3 assists.
